iphone X Dead Pixel — What to Know
The iPhone X was the first iPhone with OLED — its dead pixel behaviour differs from LCD models. On the X and XS, a dead pixel is permanently black on all backgrounds. On the XR and 11 (LCD), a dead pixel is also black but you may also see backlight bleed near the edges which is a different issue. The iPhone dead pixel test works for all these models.
Repair Cost Without Warranty
All iPhone X through 11 models are well outside their standard warranty. Screen repair costs vary:
- iPhone X / XS / XS Max: $150–$280 (Apple or third-party)
- iPhone XR: $130–$200
- iPhone 11: $130–$200
- iPhone 11 Pro / Pro Max: $180–$280
For models this old, third-party repair or trade-in often makes more economic sense than an Apple repair.
